Yesterday You Said Tomorrow....Christian Scott è tornato!

Lo attendevo con impazienza, CHRISTIAN SCOTT, con il suo super quintetto: Milton Fletcher al piano, Cristopher Funn al contrabbasso, Matt Stevens alla chitarra e Jamire Williams alla batteria!
Un mese fa è uscito il suo nuovo cd " Yesterday You Said Tomorrow" e...non c'è niente da fare..questo ragazzo, quando suona, va dritto al cuore ed è già uno dei protagonisti assoluti del jazz moderno!
Questa è la sua appassionata versione del pezzo di Thom Yorke dei RadioHead, " The Eraser"
E vorrei davvero cancellare quella sempre più enorme "macchia nera" che sta uccidendo il mare e la sua vita nel Golfo del Messico....


I was waiting with great impatience, CHRISTIAN SCOTT and his super Quintett:

A month ago the new cd was released "Yesterday You Said Tomorrow" and... there is absolutely nothing to do...when this guy play get straight to the heart!
He is definitely one of the top musicians in jazz world nowadays!
This is his extraordinaire Thom Yorke ( singer of the rock group Radiohead ) "The Eraser" rendition.
And I truly wish to get an immense eraser and cancel that scary "Blackstain" that's killing the Sea and its life in the Gulf of Mexico...

An Englisman in New York!

JOHN ESCREET classe 1984 inglese di origine vive attualmente a New York ed è un pianista dei più interessanti fra le nuove generazioni!
 Escreet, con il suo fantastico Quintetto, David Binney sax alto, Ambrose Akinmusire tromba, Matt Brewer contrabbasso e Nasheet Waits alla batteria, sono l'ennesima dimostrazione che il jazz gode di ottima salute!
Consequences del 2008 e l'ultima produzione targata John Escreet Project e il prossimo giugno è prevista l'uscita del nuovissimo cd "Dont fight the Inevitable". Non perdete di vista questi ragazzi!! ;)

JOHN ESCREET, class 1984, born in Uk resides currently in New York and, is one of the most talented and interesting pianists among the new generations!
Escreet and the killin Quintet playing here with him, David Binney on alto saxophone, Ambrose Akinmusire on trumpet, Matt Brewer on bass and Nasheet Waits on drums tell us jazz music enjoy a very good health!
Consequences is the 2008 John Escreet Project's release and next June the brand new cd "Don't fight the Inevitable" is coming!

Maria ...una voce moolto jazz!! Maria....a kind of jazzy voice!!

MARIA NECKAM austriaca che vive a New York è la cantante jazz nel senso più moderno ....voce attuale fresca dalle mille sfumature ....voce da jazz club del 2000 ....voce che ti prende e ti porta via!
In duetto col contrabbasso di THOMAS MORGAN e con il suo Quintetto del tour italiano appena concluso che oltre a MORGAN comprendeva al piano AARON PARKS, alla chitarra NIR FELDER alla batteria COLIN STRANAHAN! 
E' appena uscito il suo ultimo lavoro "Deeper"!

Due maestri dalla Norvegia....l'ipnotica tromba di NILS PETTER MOLVAER e  la chitarra di EIVIND AARSET ....musica introspettiva, che scava dentro l'anima ...il jazz che si unisce alla musica elettronica ma anche alla tradizione delle melodie folk del loro Paese!
Nel primo video MOLVAER suona HAMADA pezzo che da il nome al suo ultimo lavoro!
Il secondo video  vede l'esibizione di AARSET con la sua Sonic Codex Orchestra!

Two Masters from Norway... the hypnotic trumpet of NILS PETTER MOLVAER  and the guitar of EIVIND AARSET... introspective sound digging in the deepness of your soul....jazz happily "married" with techno music but also coming from folk norwegian legacy!
On the first video MOLVAER performs HAMADA the tune that gives the title of his last work!
On the second video AARSET performs together with the Sonic Codex Orchestra!

La Suite in tre parti è una composizione originale di questa Big Band che ha la sua base a San Francisco ed è il centro creativo di maggior rilievo sulla costa occidentale degli States!
I nomi, nella foto, non hanno bisogno di presentazioni....

This "Suite" divided in 3 sections is an original composition of this Big Band located in San Francisco and it's the most interesting creative centre on the US west coast!
The names of the musicians on the picture upside don't need any introduction....

Due Voci come queste....Two Voices like these...

La prima voce, quella di RACHELLE GARNIEZ, è una voce libera, senza tetto nè legge, teatrale,ironica e il suono del suo accordeon è un colpo al cuore!
Rachelle ha iniziato per le strade d'Europa e poi New York come Busker, recita con compagnie teatrali inglesi e americane e si esibisce nei più famosi locali jazz newyorkesi!

La seconda voce, quella della portoghese SARA SERPA, mi riporta al mare e alle sue vastità...il suo è un canto di sirena ....

The first voice, the one of RACHELLE GARNIEZ, is a free voice, with no borders and laws, ironic and the sound of her accordeon strikes your heart for sure!
Rachelle starts her carreer playing as Busker in the streets of Europe and lately back to her hometown New York, plays also in English and Us Theatres and performs regurlarly in the most famous New York jazz clubs!

The second voice, the one of the portuguese SARA SERPA, brings me back to the Ocean and its opennesses...She has got the siren's song...

Visioni notturne....Nocturnal visions....

Complice questa notte col quarto di luna...complice il fischio del vento...complice il rollio danzante della barca...io la vedo... la sua ombra nello scuro orizzonte...
Uno dei miei pezzi preferiti in questo momento...dal cd di Ambrose Akinmusire "Prelude to Cora" - Ghost Ship di AARON PARKS qui in versione live dal quartetto Joshua Redman al sax tenore, Aaron Parks al piano, Matt Penman al contrabbasso ed Eric Harland alla batteria ovvero Jame s Farm band!

Maybe for this quarter-moon night...maybe for the whistling of the wind...maybe for the swinging dance of the boat...I'm catching its sight...its shadow in the dark horizon...
One of my favourite music in this period from the latest Ambrose Akinmusire's album "Prelude to Cora" - Ghost Ship  by AARON PARKS here in a live version of the quartet JOSHUA REDMAN on tenor saxophone, AARON PARKS on piano, MATT PENMAN on double bass and ERIC HARLAND on drums that is Jame s Farm band!

Una delle più belle realtà nel panorama delle Grandi Orchestre Jazz contemporanee questa ORQUESTRA JAZZ DE MATOSINHOS diretta da Ohad Talmor e Pedro Guedes che ne curano gli arrangiamenti, e nata nel 1999 con il supporto del Comune di Matosinhos un centro turistico vicino ad Oporto in Portogallo!
Il primo album importante inciso nel 2006 con una delle icone del sax Lee Konitz e nei prossimi mesi suoneranno pezzi originali o standards già famosi di artisti quali Jason Moran, Chris Cheek, Carla Bley e Steve Swallow, Kurt Rosenwinkel.
In questa esibizione live all'Auditorium di Lisbona sassofono solista è il grande Mark Turner!


 One of the brightest examples among the contemporary Jazz Big Orchestras ...THE ORQUESTRA JAZZ DE MATOSINHOS born in 1999 and supported from the Matosinhos Town Hall a touristic town close to Oporto Portugal.
This young Big Orchestra is directed by Ohad Talmor and Pedro Guedes who arrange all the musical stuff!
First important album recorded with one of the saxophone's icons Lee Konitz in 2006 and in the next months they will play original or already famous compositions of Jason Moran, Chris Cheek, Carla Bley and Steve Swallow, Kurt Rosenwinkel!
In this live performance at the Auditorium in Lisbon the sax soloist is the great Mark Turner!

Avishai Cohen e la sua Aurora!

AVISHAI COHEN contrabbassista cantante israeliano in questo suo ultimo album "Aurora" decisamente mi piace!
Artista di grande presenza scenica e personalità in questo album le sonorità sono influenzate dagli echi della sua terra così come dall'area mediterranea ....è un viaggio introspettivo e quasi mistico...

Nel secondo video un "divertissement" ...Avishai Cohen Trio con SHAI MAESTRO al piano e MARK GUILIANA alla batteria in una pirotecnica versione di "Come Togeteher" dei Beatles!!!! Oh yeah!!!!

The latest album "Aurora" of the great AVISHAI COHEN bassist, singer coming from Israel made me eager of it definitely!
Cohen is an artist of great stage presence and charisma and in this last work his sound is widely influenced by the music of his roots such as that one of all the Mediterranean area....Introspective and almost mystic voyage...

Preziosa la sua collaborazione con il pianista Vijay Iyer ..... in ogni caso trascinante e seduttiva la sua "voce"....

Da ascoltare anche assieme al trombonista GIANLUCA PETRELLA oppure in duo con la pianista RITA MARCOTULLI oppure solista in un Orchestra Sinfonica..

I'm starting the new year introducing a great great Artist, the saxophonist coming from Argentina JAVIER GIROTTO!
The echoes of tango are obviously inside his soul, so his jazz sound is full of red passion, strong and melancholic feeling, dancing steps so fast....
You have to listen GIROTTO together with the trombonist GIANLUCA PETRELLA, in a duo with the pianist RITA MARCOTULLI or as sax soloist in Symphonic Orchestras....simply gorgeous!!
